Autodesk leads the design and make industry across architecture, engineering, construction, and operations (AECO), media and entertainment (M&E), and design and manufacturing (D&M). As Autodesk prepared a major update to its Design and Make Platform story, the company needed a clearer, more intuitive hero graphic. Sans Serif partnered with Autodesk to strategize and create hero visuals for its emerging flagship product—creating animations that simplify complexity while preserving the story of connection and sophistication of Autodesk’s connected ecosystem.

Transforming platform complexity into accessible clarity

We evaluated Autodesk’s earlier platform diagrams and worked to streamline their structure without diminishing their technical richness. Careful, intentional representation of the underlying platform services layer, data, and next-generation AI-infused workflows positions the Autodesk Design and Make Platform as a seminal breakthrough for creators everywhere and the future of design and make—and Autodesk.

Designing a future-forward modular visual language

Our team developed a modernized visual system that reflects the ambition and technical depth of Autodesk’s evolving platform. Using refined shapes, balanced hierarchy, connected flows, and subtle motion cues, the updated hero graphic communicates an elegant, scalable system—one that accurately represents Autodesk’s vision without overwhelming viewers with unnecessary complexity.

Supporting high‑stakes executive communication

Built specifically for CEO Andrew Anagnost and other executives’ keynotes at Autodesk’s largest annual events (including Autodesk University and One Team Conference), the graphics enhance clarity, pacing, and narrative flow. The graphic structure enables Autodesk’s leadership to describe the platform’s evolution with confidence—showing how tools and data will unify in the future, and giving audiences a more intuitive, meaningful understanding of Autodesk’s long‑term direction. We were thrilled to see our animation playing behind the keynotes, helping make such complex ideas graspable.

Enabling deeper understanding through purposeful design

Rather than illustrating features in isolation, the graphic system demonstrates how information and workflows move across the entire ecosystem. This approach preserves the sophistication of Autodesk’s technology while making its value easier to understand—helping audiences engage meaningfully with the platform’s future without oversimplifying the underlying innovation.

In close partnership with Autodesk’s platform, design, thought leadership, and executive communications teams and the VFX studio Strange Flock, Sans Serif delivered a hero graphic animation system that is intuitive, visually compelling, and strategically essential—empowering Autodesk to communicate its platform vision with clarity, coherence, and impact at the highest level.
